Uttar Pradesh is well-prepared to enter fun water tourism in the state's most famous cities Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura, In the quest to become the new hotspots for water tourism Uttar Pradesh will soon introduce modern open catamaran boats. The move is said according to reports to give a much-needed shot in the arm for the new roaring tourism industry in the state.

According to reports, the government has gone on record and flattened proposals to set up additional water tourism destinations with the help of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). Here, it will also provide six catamaran boats for the enhancement of tourists' experience by giving them river cruises at some of Uttar Pradesh's most prized locations. All of the aforementioned cities will be provided with two catamarans each.

Today, there are two catamarans-one in Ayodhya and the other in Kashi, carrying 40-50 passengers. The UP State Tourism Corporation has also spelt out a list of criteria for the catamarans that will be used in the future: they should be open from all sides, should have a deck, pantry, and toilets. These facilities would help visitors in relishing the grandeur of nature while also enjoying a pleasant boat ride.

Jaiveer Singh, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister, elaborated plans related to the state's dynamic growth in tourism and added, "We are actively pursuing a variety of tourism projects, including rural tourism, agri-tourism, and water sports.". The vastness of water tourism potential in Uttar Pradesh could be compared to just a starting point, with these catamarans, he said. He further mentioned that over 480 million tourists visited the state's diverse attractions last year alone. This includes the religious and spiritual and eco-tourism sites.

The IWAI has also recently provided electric boats to Ayodhya. This includes two mini-cruise boats with a carrying capacity of 30 passengers each, besides six motorboats and two rescue boats. All these vessels would become operational after the monsoons and open up further options for water-based travel in the state.
